The first exercise is called: Buddha Showing a Thousand Hands. The most important thing to know about this exercise is that it should be the foundation of the whole series which means that practitioners should definitely start with this one first. Basically it consists of stretching movements that are meant to unblock areas where energy is clogged. These stimulate the energy flow in the body and under the skin and this automatically absorbs a huge amount of energy from the universe. The most important point that justifies its being performed at the beginning is that it enables all the meridians in the adherent’s body to open and this can be felt though a special feeling of warmth and through the presence of a strong energy field. Buddha Showing a Thousand Hands consists of eight movements. These are all quite simple and the best thing about them is that they enable the practitioner to enter the state of being surrounded by an energy field.
The second exercise bears the name: The Falun Standing Stance. Before we go into detail we have to explain that the Falun is the “law wheel” which is an intelligent, rotating entity composed of high energy matter. It resides in the practitioner’s lower abdomen but in another dimension and rotates constantly and in an unstoppable manner. It helps practitioners to practice automatically. This means that even when they are not exercising, they are being refined. The Falun has the same characteristics as the universe, therefore it is basically the miniature of the universe.
Jumping back to the exercise concerning the Falun, it is a tranquil standing meditation which consists of four wheel-holding positions. Frequent performance of this exercise will facilitate the complete opening of the whole body. This is directed towards increasing wisdom, enhancing gong potency, raising one’s level and strengthening one’s divine powers. The movements are very simple but the effects that can be achieved though them are extremely complex. This exercise may be tiring for the beginners since they will feel their arms heavy and painful, but after performing the movements they will feel relaxed. If one would like to feel even more than freedom of tiredness, one has to increase the time and frequency of the exercises and the rotating Falun will appear between one’s arms. These movements should be done naturally but without swaying, however a certain amount of it is allowed, still it needs to be controlled. The more time spent on this exercise the better for the practitioner, but he or she always have to bear in mind that this is an exercise.
The third exercise is called: Penetrating the Two Cosmic Extremes. This is a really interesting exercise because it basically purifies you body and at the same time fills it with energy. It opens up the body and enables cosmic energy to be mixed with the energy inside the body. A great amount of energy erupts during this exercise which makes quick purification possible. This exercise opens the meridians on top of the head and unblocks the passage underneath the feet. Everything moves simultaneously: the hands, the energy inside the body and the mechanisms outside the body as well. The energy expelled on the top of the head reaches the upper cosmos and the energy that is ejected at the bottom of the feet travels to the lower cosmos. Fresh energy returns from these extremes and exit in the opposite direction. The hand movements that enable this energy flow are done nine times.
The fourth exercise is called: The Great Heavenly Circuit in which both hands follow the energy mechanisms. All the movements here are slow, smooth and gradual. This exercise enables the human body to circulate energy over large areas. This is far beyond the usual methods of opening meridians; this is an intermediate-level cultivation method. The previous three exercises and this one adds up to the quick opening up of all the meridians in the body. This exercise uses the Falun’s rotation to improve abnormal conditions in the body. With this it creates a small universe that will enable the body to return to its original state. This state signals a very high level of cultivation.
The fifth and last exercise is named: Strengthening Divine Powers which is a peaceful cultivation exercise. As its name suggests, it strengthens divine powers and gong potency by turning the Falun using Buddha hand signs. It is very interesting that this was a secret exercise and that it is above the intermediate level. To perform this exercise you need to cross both legs (single-leg crossing is allowed only at the initial stage). The flow of energy is very strong during this exercise and the field energy around the body is large. It highly depends in the person’s endurance, but the longer you can leave your legs crossed the better. One important point has to be emphasized: no mental activity is allowed while you are performing this exercise, yet you have to be conscious about the fact that you are the one who is exercising.
